One of the main access roads in Helston will be closed for 24 hours next week.
A traffic order is in place to prevent vehicles from passing through Penhellaz Hill and Cross Street from April 22 to 23.
The road will be closed off to traffic from Penhallaz Hill between the junctions of St John’s Road and Cross Street for its entire length.
Cornwall Council has ordered the road closures to be in place to enable South West Water to carry out sewer cleaning.
However, pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained for properties.
A diversion route will be available to see on-site during the works.
The traffic order states: “This prohibition is necessary for sewer cleaning works and it is expected that the closure will be from 22 April 2024 to 23 April 2024. The prohibition will be in force 24 hours a day, weekdays only. Roads affected - Penhellaz Hill between the junctions of St Johns Road and Cross Street and Cross Street for its entire length, Helston.”
It goes on to add: “Any vehicle being used for the purposes of an undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitate the bringing of vehicles into the section of highway to which this order applies.
“Traffic associated with the works required within the highway specified above.
“An alternative route will be available for use while the Order is in force being Penhellaz Hill, Penzance Road, Monument Road, Coinagehall Street, Church Street.”
