Amir Khan has announced legendary Cuban Jorge Rubio as his new trainer.
The 21-year-old Olympic silver medallist split with Oliver Harrison earlier this year despite the Salford trainer guiding Khan's unbeaten career since turning professional in 2005.
High-profile Americans such as Freddie Roach, Buddy McGirt and the Mayweather brothers Floyd and Roger were originally thought to be in the frame, but it was confirmed on Saturday that Olympic coach Rubio has got the job and is already working with the youngster ahead of his September 6 Commonwealth title defence.
"I'm delighted that Jorge is now my trainer and I look forward to working with him towards winning the world title," said Khan.Â
"I met with a lot of trainers when I was in America and had plenty of training sessions with everyone, and they were happy to come and work with me in Bolton.
"But I was impressed most by Jorge and his set-up, and more importantly I felt comfortable working with him. His training methods will give me a new dimension."
Rubio, now based in Miami, said: "It's fantastic to be given the opportunity to work with such a natural talent like Amir, and I believe that I can bring the best out in him."
Sports Network matchmaker Dean Powell, who was in charge of the Bolton fighter's corner for his 18th fight against Michael Gomez in June, will remain as part of Khan's team.
