Hundreds of fans flocked to Hollywood Boulevard to catch a glimpse of Kevin Costner at the world premiere of his new movie Swing Vote.
The actor arrived extra early to greet the excited crowds, before spending time with reporters on the red carpet.
In the comedy, Costner plays an apathetic lay-about who ends up being given the deciding vote in the presidential election. Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Hopper play the two candidates vying for Costner's character's vote.
Surrounded by banners sporting stars and stripes, Costner explained his hesitation about putting out the movie in a US election year.
"The fact that it came out now, hopefully it works to our advantage, but I'm not sure that it will because sometimes people become way too tired of politics," he said. "I hope they don't feel that about this movie because the movie is really fun, a real breath of fresh air."
Grammer joked: "I had a scene with an elephant in it which didn't make it into the movie which really was the reason I took the movie."
The former Frasier actor clearly has not lost his sense of humour since being rushed to hospital following a heart attack in May. He joked to one reporter: "What's my stress busting tip? Just have a heart attack. It'll do it every time."
Swing Vote is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and also stars Nathan Lane, Stanley Tucci and Madeline Carroll.
In Cornwall many people spend time on one of the sandy beaches and shingle coves along the coastline.
The South West Coast Path begins at Minehead in Somerset and runs along the part of the Somerset coast, across North Devon, round Cornwall, then South Devon and Dorset to Poole Harbour - a distance of 630 miles. It is the longest path of its type in the country.
Post office campaigners in Cornwall are furious after Royal Mail turned down an invitation to a rally to discuss its closure programme across the county.
Those who whimped out missed out on the Carnival held on Saturday. Torrential rain failed miserably to dampen the spirits of those taking part though the small number of spectators adversely affected the size of the charity collection.
