ST MARY’S CHURCH: On Sunday, August 10, St Mary’s said goodbye and a big thank you to Father Jerome Nyathi, who had been looking after the parish for two weeks. He was due to fly back to Zimbabwe the next day so a special collection was taken up totalling £1,700 as a gift that he could take back to help his people.

METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev Rose Westwood, minister, welcomed the Falmouth Town Mayor, Councillor Mike Varney, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Civic Dignitaries and the Standard Bearers of the Falmouth Branch of the Royal British Legion, to the Civic Service.

THE FRIENDS OF THE CORNWALL SAMARITANS: Volunteers from the Cornwall Samaritans held street collections on Wednesday in most inclement weather, but thanks to the generosity of Falmouth folk, £174 was collected.

PARISH OF PENWERRIS: on the Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity, Father Mark celebrated the Eucharist. Mr Stuart Paul was the organist. Mr D B Barnicoat was the only server as Mr J B Bray was in hospital.

FALMOUTH - FRIENDS OF PRINCESS PAVILION: On Thursday, a perfect warm, sunny afternoon, a large gathering of people attended the annual garden party for Falmouth Week in the beautiful Gyllyndune Gardens. The Black Rock Jazz Band gave an excellent programme from the bandstand. The stalls were busy and the children entertained. The café was busy with people making the most of the chance to enjoy eating out of doors; it was a pleasure to see so many people enjoying themselves.

Thousands of pensioners could miss out on hundreds of pounds worth of backdated benefits as a result of rule changes that come into force later this year.

The South West Coast Path begins at Minehead in Somerset and runs along the part of the Somerset coast, across North Devon, round Cornwall, then South Devon and Dorset to Poole Harbour - a distance of 630 miles. It is the longest path of its type in the country.
Post office campaigners in Cornwall are furious after Royal Mail turned down an invitation to a rally to discuss its closure programme across the county.
Those who whimped out missed out on the Carnival held on Saturday. Torrential rain failed miserably to dampen the spirits of those taking part though the small number of spectators adversely affected the size of the charity collection.
