BUDOCK WOMEN'S INSTITUTE: The talk at the meeting was so poignant and praiseworthy that one of the members, Lynn, decided to give the proceeds of the coffee morning she is holding at her house on August 6 to this worthy cause. The talk was "Penhaligons Friend"'. The speaker, Barbara Bailey, is a worker with the charity which supports bereaved children and their families. Several years ago a conference was held in London on bereavement, particularly how it affects children and their families. Two nurses from Cornwall later met and found that there were no facilities at all in the county for this group, so they met up with members of the Social Services, Education and other similar groups, discussed how help could be given and started "Friends of Penhaligon". Dame Annette Penhaligon, the widow of David Penhaligon, a former Truro MP who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident, became the patron.
