Resurfacing flys in the face of common sense

10:30am Wednesday 16th July 2008

RUNWAY resurfacing begins and I'm provoked to site an old adage, ie what's good for the goose should be good for the gander, not that geese need a runway!

It is, however, somewhat strange that in this otherwise PC (political correct) world - here in the UK, a public carrying air operator is allowed by the powers that be to operate such a service (Skybus) out of an airfield that has no runway at all, but only grass! I refer of course to Land's End Airport in this respect.

That the other end of this route - the Isles of Scilly, has long since been provided with a hard runway, whilst the other End (Land's) hasn't, seems to fly in the face of both safety and common sense.
