Chaos continued on the eastern approach road to Truro city centre this week as the A39 Tregolls Road section became single lane.
Extensive work is being carried out by May Gurney on behalf of South West Water along the road from the traffic lights at the junction of Chellew Road and Trafalgar Roundabout which has also been dug up.
The road carries huge amounts of traffic daily from east of the city, both from the St Austell direction and from the A30, and has become particularly congested during peak period. Many workers heading for the city have had to allow extra time and many have been late for work.
On Monday, traffic built up as far back as Tresillian on the St Austell Road and past Penmount Crematorium towards Trispen on the road linking the A30. One driver said it had taken more than an hour to reach Falmouth, so congested was the traffic.
The problems for motorists are expected to continue as further essential work on behalf of South West Water is carried out on the other side of Truro city centre, this time along Morlaix Avenue where there will be lane closures overnight from 7pm until 7am until May 25.
