RNAS CULDROSE 0
ILLOGAN 2
ILLOGAN completed their Jolly's Combination League season with a 2-0 win at the airbase to finish in sixth position.
There was no end-of season flavour to this game with both sides opting for attacking football but falling down with a poor final ball.
Conditions suited good football and both teams did exactly that, but neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled.
Colin Brown, after spilling one early shot, had an inspired game and did well in goal to handle everything that was thrown at him including one stinging shot from Craig Williams.
Ryan Cooper came on for the injured Stuart Peters early in the second half and shortly after Charlie Andrew replaced the injured Matt Callaway.
The game changed on the hour when Culdrose had James Brooks sent off for something that was said to the referee.
Illogan began to enjoy much more possession and territory and although Andrew and Gareth Pitt went close Illogan eventually broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when Brown parried a shot by Andrew only for Cooper to follow up and knock the loose ball into the net.
Four minutes later Illogan made sure of the result when Sam Fenton cut into the box and was brought down for a penalty which Danny Burrows converted.
Illogan: D Burrows, A Clarke, M Sabo, M Callaway, J Robertson, G Sturmey, C Williams, R Bray, S Peters, S Fenton, G Pitt. Subs: R Cooper, C Andrew, J Eddy.
